any tips on the best method for adjusting roller rockers on a 302. i have 1.6- 3/8 roller rockers.tia

You should call the tech line with all your specs for the brand of rollers you bought, not the parts house. 1.5's generically are good at 3/4 turn after freeplay, 1.6 only 1/2 turn. They will want to know your complete valve train geometry IE, Which Rockers, push rods, lifters, cam and head work. This is one of the big 3 for engine performance and longevity after solid recip. Valve train harmony, ignition timing, fuel/air delivery. Consult the MFG. of the rockers with hope you have reasonably matched components for what you are gunning for. Good luck

Let us know on how they instruct you to do your static adjustment, and final. There is a touch involved as I have been there, thats my shiat as you will find. Might be a neat thing for you to do a tech. article on for sure. Let em know man.

update on roller rockers. mfg guys havent sent me anything yet so i contacted a local ford guy that races at the drag strip here. he told me to get a chilton book for the year i have . he said the roller rockers adjust the same way the factory rockers adjust. i bought the book and read up on it. its really self explanitory and easy to go by in the book.i had the wife on a creeper turning the crank while i did the adjusting. she is only 5'5 and 115 lbs. so it took a little longer , but we did it none the less.it cranks easier now and chops harder and faster. had to retard the timing a little bit afterwards. i will sit down this week and do a complete write up of how i did this.
