Hey guys!

Well I rolled my truck this weekend:temper:

In a Matter of 3 secs... It was a Sad weekend...:bawling:

However this gives me a chance to do some things that i wanted to do but First i have a few questions?

1: What years can I look for the cab and box from (my Truck was a 94 XLT X'Cab)

I think from my knowledge i can use 93 - 96/97 Body Styles as in 98 they went with the new suspension and different interior?

2: Whats the Best year Limited Explorer to Pull the V8 out of (i'm going to be doing a V8 swap into the 94)

Those are it so far!!! I am thankful to be alive and now itching to make this truck back to running the trails again!

Thanks alot guys!!! Hopefully i can find a body for it soon!!

Ry

is bad sorry for you man

Ouch dude that suckks, howd it happen?

It was dusty and dark, i was following 4 others (no CB's) so we were closer then i normally would b and the dust kicked up and at the end of the dust was a turn and i didn't turn (well turned way to late) and hit toppled over the side and landed 15 feet down the embankment!!! :bawling:

But I survived... that is the main thing... Knee is a little messed but i can still walk!!!!!

But now it's time to build!!!!! :icon_thumby: Just gotta know that body info!!!!

I think i'm going to stay with the 94 (love them) and use a 1995 Explorer V8... we shall see.... If anybody has anymore info (then the great info on the tech page :icon_thumby: ) any would b helpfull!!!

Ry

Sorry to hear that. That was a clean truck. Here's to buildin a better one, look to the good side:icon_cheers:

Anyway, your best bet would be to find a 93-94 cab. the new dash 95+ has different mounts on the firewall. If you were to get a newer one, you'd have to use the new dash. The newer dash uses among, other things, an electronic speedo. So other modifications would have to be made to your truck.
You could also pretty easily use a 2nd Gen body, 89-92.

I have seen a few different set ups used. Near me a guy has a 2nd GEN. cab & bed sitting on a 98+ 4wd frame. I just put a 2003 bed on my 94 frame, so the beds are no different.

I would stick with the 93-94 cab. But... any nose or bed 1993-2009 will work
If it were me...
94 cab
04-09 nose
93-09 bed w/07-09 taillights
FX4 L2 Decals and flares

"New" "FX4 LevelII" Ranger jacked up on TTB set-up

I like were this is heading!!!! That would look sick!!! All right now i'll be hitting up the wreckers...

Anybody know any more info on swapping a 1996 Explorer 302 in a 94 Ranger ( all i'm nervous on is the Tachometer:

Here's how you modify your Ranger tachometer for V-8 use:

1) Get your dash apart and disconnect the cluster
2) If you have a EVTM turn to the Instrument cluster section
3) Locate Pin 8 on wire connector C216 (Black/Yellow Wire)
4) Use a very small flathead screwdriver to release the pin from the connector housing
5) Find Connector C214 (largest of the 3 for cluster)
6) Install the wire removed from C216 in to slot 16 on C214. This slot is currently vacant.
7) Put everything back together and fire it up. You're all done.

Not sure if this is the same for 94???? guess i have to pull out the manual!!!!!

Or this:1996-1997 Explorer 5.0L Harness Modifications:

The 1996-1997 Explorer harness needs some slight rewiring to plug into the 1998-2001 Ranger harness:

Connector 115 (large 42-pin motor to truck plug):

Pin 42 is a ground. You must cut it about 4-inches from connector. Solder and shrink is best, but butt connectors will do if you can't solder. Remove the PCM before soldering so the hot iron doesn't damage any circuits.

Take a 6-inch wire and attach a lug on the end to ground it to the firewall. Solder to the harness end of the wire you cut. Not the plug.

The short Black wire with White stripe from the plug is now going to be used for the Yellow/White alternator wire. Get the plug and alternator wire from Ford or a salvage yard. The 1996-1997 Explorer harness has pin 41 empty. This is a Light Green/Red wire for the alternator light. From the alternator, connect this wire to the Ranger side of plug 41 or take the wire and pin from the Ranger motor plug and connect it through the plug.

Will I have to do that with the 94???

Thanks guys!!!

Got myself a new truck!!!

It's an 84.... I love the thing!!! haven't had it out much this year... needs a new top end after this summer... but too much fun... this one is only a 125.. but i've over bored it so it goes enough for me!!!!!

Looks like nothing is wrong! flip it over and hit the trails! Why are you not just putting a cage in/over that body and keeping wheeling? body panels are over rated.
