I was digging around in our barn the other night and came across an old roll bar that came off an 89' Toyota truck. Its in very good shape (paint is nearly flawless) and appears to be 3" tubular steal and has a Toyota logo on it. I decided to back my truck in and see how it would fit. It has a piece that goes up behind the cab and is shaped similar to the cab and stands about 2" above the cab, and two pieces that run at about a 45 degree angle to the bed. On my truck, with the wide side rails on the bed, the 45 degree angles rest partly on the side rails.

My question is, is this piece supposed to be bolted to the bed or the side rails? Does anyone have any pictures of their setup? I'm trying to avoid looking like a redneck, but its almost to hard to pass up finding something for free. Also... Any thoughts on fitting a tool box in? I would hate to sacrifice my tool box for it.

Thanks for any pointers!

Here's a picture of it sitting in the bed... It might need a little cutting and welding to make it a perfect fit...

If the two bars on the top are flat and it doesn't appear to be tipped forward, then they go on the bed rail. If the front vertical bar is tipped forward towards the cab then they are supposed to go on the wheel well.

If you put a roll bar/light bar in, you won't be able to fit in a tool box. Sorry.

As for not wanting to look like a redneck?
Your putting a lightbar on a 4x4. Wear the badge proudly.

You can pu tin a "chest" style tol box. They bolt to the bed floor rahter then hang from the bed rail. I use that style in my truck and really like it,.

ford made a factory light bar (rollbar) as part of a package, maybe you could get one off e-bay that would fit without modding, and e-bay the toy bar to pay for it.
