Anyone have any experience with using roll bars from other vehicles/ brands? A brand new Ranger roll bar is a little rich for my blood, but Craigslist is littered with sub $100 bars from Broncos, Wranglers, and tacos. Anyone know anything about the feasibility this working? fyi, I have a 7 foot style side.

Well, you can make another roll bar work, but you will have to do some fabrication to attach it to the Ranger frame (which will have a different location in relation to the other brands)

your best bet would be a roll bar from a Taco or an S 10 as they are fairly close to the Ranger in size. I would pull the bed and make your brackets and frame mounts to attach to the frame underneath the bed, then drill holes throught the bed and attach the roll bar to the brackets through the bed.

Get measurements of where the roll bar attaches to the bed of the other trucks, and then double check that it will attach to your bed in roughly the same place (IE not in the fenderwell...)

Personnaly, I would save up for the Ranger one or spend the money to have one custom fabricated to fit the Ranger.

FYI; There IS a difference between a "roll bar" and a "light bar". As 97 says above, a roll bar is attached to the frame. A light bar is attached to the bed. Make sure you're comparing apples to apples when shopping.

I think the taco is likely the best bet. I have seen a few Tacos and T-100s with Ranger beds on them.

My rollbar was advertised on craigslist for a S10/Ranger. About the best $20 I have spent so far. :icon_thumby:

It isn't a safety thing for a rollover but since you are finding a bunch of them for different vehicles I think it is probably what you are after.
