New guy checking in,

I need to do some more research on here to get my questions answered but going to post up my new idea/build dreams

I have 2 project toys and would like to combine it into 1.
first off, I have a 1990 Lincoln LSC, with built 302. supercharged, full manual aod, gears on and on.
(I get into trouble with the car, way to much)

second, I have an 89 cherokee on rockwells and 42's. I like going off road. I have more fun, I don't get harassed.

So I have always wanted a truggy, so i thought about pulling my motor and possible aod if i can still use it and bolt up my tcase, part out the lincoln, than build a 93+ extended cab ranger, and install my rockwells and 42's under it. I would have to re-cam my motor, but otherwise, I think a fully balanced/blueprinted 306 would be fun. So am I crazy for wanting to do this.

I seen that AA makes an adapter for the aod, but are all aod's, (besides AODE) the same for the tail housing? I have a very well built Art Carr AOD, with a manual valve body.

that would be a sweet build, do it

Yes it is completely possible. Don't ever plan on it being street legal. As far at the t-case deal did you ever consider running a divorced t-case such as a Dana 24 or an older NP205? That would save you in tearing your transmission apart to change the output shaft. If you know where to look and what you are looking for you will see that most of the AA swap kits for most t-cases are a waste of money. It can be done with factory parts. Using a 4x4 AOD as a donor will do the same thing as the kit. Being you are making some power I would suggest a link suspension for the rockwells.

Matt

I have a 3 link up front, and leafs in the rear with an anti-wrap bar, It does pretty well, but the chero, only has the lower output 4.0, I will be going to a triangulated 4 link. I have a nice stak 4x4 dana300 that I want to use. So I will do some reading, with a healthier motor, I wouldn't need as low of gearing. but i know the np205's are stronger or could go the np203/205 doubler. street legal..., I haven't had a street legal trail rig for awhile now. not concerned with it. :)
