Hey guys,
Anyone know the width of the "deer hoof" style aluminum rims that came stock on my 93 Ranger 2WD XLT supercab? It's sporting 225X70X14 tires now and they're getting real thin. I can get 195X70X14 locally for a pretty good price, or order in some 195X75X14's from TirePros to the same local dealer. I think the widest you can go with either of these 195 tires is 6.5 inches. Reckon they will fit?

Both should be perfectly fine on whatever you have under your truck now.

That being said, I wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 205/70/14 if you've got 225/70s on there now.

Yeah, I know but that's what the wallet allows right now. When you've got a kid in college you learn how to cut corners any way you can.

I am the kid in college, with two kids of my own. lol

I hear yah man... But your only going to hurt your gas mileage with smaller tires and that adds up over time. Just a thought.

Thanks guys...figured out they are 6 inches wide. I went with a pair of 195X75X14 Kelley's, which are only 1 inch shorter than my Kelley 225X70X14's that definitely won't pass inspection. I only commute about 12 miles a day, including a round trip home at lunch, so mpg isn't critical. I grew up with carbed vehicles, so anything fuel injected that gets more than 20 mpg is top of the line...even though they annoy me cause I can't do as much under the hood, except basic stuff. The most I ever haul is SWMBO and the big Choc Lab, and a load of firewood or two every other year. I pick em up Sat. morning.

Got the 195X75X14's put on the front today. Moved the front tires and wheels to the rear and put the new tires up front. The tires they pulled off had more tread left than I thought, so I tossed them in the back and later into the garage. I'll either toss 'em later or get a few more miles out of 'em when I wear out the tires I put on the back...they just might pass inspection in a month or so. I know my 225X70X14's are worn down, but the new tires aren't that much shorter...barely noticeable, and now the 93 Ranger rides and looks like my old 69 F100 back in the day when I had fat, taller tires on the rear for traction and get-up-n-go in the mud and offroad.
