Good morning TRS colleagues,

I have an electrical issue with my 1997 Ranger STX 4WD. When I engage the right turn signal, nearly all the rear lights flash (including the center-mounted stop light on the cab). The backup lights don't flash, just the red and yellow lights. When I turn on the hazards, the rear red and yellow lights also flash. When I use the left turn signal, the left front and back turn lights flash normally. If the brake pedal is pushed, the red lights go bright and steady but both yellow flashers keep blinking. I bought a new multi-function switch and blue flasher relay and replaced the switch on the steering column and relay under the dash. I pulled all the bulbs (together and one-by-one) and systematically tried to isolate a bulb issue. I pulled apart and cleaned all the connectors (including the trailer "T" connection under the bumper). I pulled the turn signal and hazard fuses (all good). When the hazard fuse is out, the hazards AND the turn signals don't work; the wiring diagram shows them as independent circuits. When the turn signal fuse is out, the signals don't work but the hazards do (as expected). I think it might be the flasher ground but I have no idea where that is. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks Supercab. I thought about that but am mindful of chasing bunch of parts seeking a solution. Is there any way to check the adapter without buying a new one? I don't have the original part that connects the two wire harness end connectors.

2011Supercab...your suggestion worked! I took a shot and went to NAPA and bought a new connector (less than $25) and popped it on. All the lights are working as expected. The garage wanted $150 and a gig auto electrician quoted $135 to diagnose. You saved me over a hundred dollars...thanks brother!
