Is it possible to remove this without removing the engine? It is a SOHC, 4.0L, V6, 2001 FOrd Ranger 4x4

why are you wanting to pull one cam? I imagin you can tho
Oh sure you can pull it apart without taking the engine out of the chassis.
The problem is you cannot put it back together with the engine in the chassis.

You should listen to the folks on this site and stick to what you have experience and training to do . . . take the truck to your friend the mechanic, or to a mechanic who is not your friend.

I'm glad I learned to always start a spark plug by hand, not wrench, on a motorcycle instead of a car when I was a kid.....
We did start them by hand, we didn't just fall off the turnip truck, not sure what happened![]()
They can't have been started by hand and then become crossthreaded, unless you put the wrong spark plugs in and they have a different thread (kinda hard to imagine -- I've never seen that).
It's not just spark plugs that should be started by hand. Anything with threads.
