Rev's 87 High Rider 4x4 Project

Update 8/8/08

So after getting the truck back from paint, I went to the local pick-and-pull to try and find some emblems and other stuff.

What a find!

There was an '87 High Rider with an OEM (or whoever Ford put it out to) Grill Guard! It needed paint as it had rusted but was basically in good shape. This is the Grill Guard that doesn't require drilling of the stock bumper. The mounts line up with the four bolt holes perfectly.

I've got pics put lost my camera to PC cord so I can't upload yet.

She's just about done!

Here are the before pics. I stripped just about everything off myself as the paint was done by One Day Paint, discount place similar to Maaco and the like, but recommended by a high-end shop. They did quite a bit of dent and ding body work (left front fender, gas cover, drivers door, right and left quarter panels...and filled in 62 holes where snap rivets had been installed for a bed cover).

That thing is Awesome!

Good work man, I like it! I like it when someone knows that body work and straight paint actually takes some work!

Now it just needs some 35" Boggers :icon_thumby:

The interior is in great (used) shape. The dash is a gonner with cracks and is burnt from the sun. I found a dash cover at the wrecker that came out perfectly clean that covers it up though.

I'm going to replace the front 60/40 seats with T-Bird buckets at some point. The only nuisance is going to be replacing the A/C system...not so much from a work but from a $$ perspective.

I also installed a remote lock/alarm system.

I don't know what else I'm going to tackle for a while. What's left are all pretty major overhaul or replacement projects:

Motor/tranny
A/C
Suspension

holy crap dude, i thought you stole my truck for a minute... your truck is clean though! its also a little strange that i have '94 t-bird bucket seats in my truck

Wow...that's crazy man!

Well CRAP!

My tranny blew out on me this past weekend...first camping trip with the truck all fixed up and I'm 10 minutes from the exit and I get smoke pouring out the back end...pull off the freeway after about 1/4 mile, come to a stop and the tranny won't engage...girlfriend gets behind the wheel and I start pushing only to slip and fall in a puddle of tranny fluid.

I was in Drive running about 3750 RPM (dropped down from OD as we were climbing a hill). Hopefully just a blown seal that was improperly installed by the shade-tree mechanic that did the B2 motor/tranny swap before I bought it.

sweet truck. looks like youve done alot of work to get it where it is.:headbang:

Well close to 3 months since the tranny failure and she's back on the road. I didn't have the $$ to have anyone do work on the tranny. My brother came through and said he'd pay to have it fixed.

The converter bushing/bellhousing seal blew out. Upon inspection the bellhousing was extensively damaged due to imroper removal and installation of the seal by the previous owner who installed the B2 motor and tranny. New bellhousing installed, everything buttoned up and I'm back on the road.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. That is a beautiful truck, btw. I wish mine looked that nice!
