I am assuminig that you replaced the trans selection sensor (on the driver side of the trans) and the backup lights don't work. You need this switch to work properly or you will not be able to shift into 4WD low because the ECM has to see that the trans is in neutral. There is a tool for this, and a procedure- but this is what I did:
Put the parking brake on and block the wheels. Start the engine, put it into reverse (to make sure it is really is) THEN SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. Then turn the ignition back on with the trans still in reverse- DO NOT START THE ENGINE. Set a mirror so you can see the backup lights from underneath. Then crawl underneath, loosen the 2 (i think) screws that hold on the trans sensor. Rotate it back and forth slowly. Mark the positions where the lights go off as you rotate it to either side. Rotate the sensor in the middle of your 2 marks, and snug up the bolts. Worked for me, took about 5 minutes. I assume you checked the fuses, lights, etc already. Sorry to ask an obvious question, but it's surprising what some people skip.

sorry about that type o ment transmission range sensor also known as the transmission selection sensor....... yea i will have to try leaving it in reverse and loosing the bolts up and move it till i can get them to come on didnt think about doing it that way.

I didn't check the fuse on mine after replacing the bulbs and tranny switch. I really don't want ot fool with the star adjuster after reading the horror story on the other thread. I hope min is just the fuse (crosses fingers). I assume that fuse is in the main panel? I am at work and not near my truck.

Mr. Rutherford, is your an auto or manual?

Manual trans has the switch on the DS of the trans and the auto has the DTR on the selector shaft, further forward. If it is a manual trans, pull the switch and see if the actuating rod is present. A magnet will pull it out, nothing holds it in there.

I don't have a fuse diagram for 95, but a 93 uses fuse #5 (15A) in the cab and it is shared with the turn signals.

Manual, I posted in the other thread about checking the fuse first, then the new switch I installed yesterday, the bulbs again, and the rod. Since the bulbs and switch are new, I am praying it is the fuse :)
