rev limiter on a 3.0??

to all of you saying that driving fast is dangerous in a truck.. no duh driving fast in a ford gt is dangerous. its all about the drivers ability and the trucks ability. if you have a truck with 35" mud tires then obviously you shouldn't drive 85 on the highway but with that set up high speed pavement is not your thing anyway. now if you have a ranger that is dropped with stiffened suspension z rated tires and really nice brakes and a 440 than you can go 85 and not even notice that you are going that fast. its all in the set up and driver. so now to all of you speeding make sure you know your limits how fast can you stop cuz as fast as you can blink is how fast a car can cut you off cuz they didnt bother checking to see if the lane was clear.

You live in Miami, how many wealthy families have nice luxury cars they let their kids drive. I bet some of em have there own Mercedes.

ya they do but im not one of them i got my ranger and have had it for 5 years. when i was in high school i knew girls that got a new car every 6 months cuz they kept wrecking the ones their daddy's bought for them i have yet to do more than scratch the paint on my truck with trees on the trail.

I know what you mean, theres a chick down the road from me whos wrecked and totaled two cars in less than 6 months, her parents wont buy another.

down here they would and it pisses me off because obviously if they cant stop wrecking the cars its unsafe to give them another one.

its the same way around here girls will get tickets and their parents will pay for them and they keep speeding and talking on their phones and texting it really makes me mad cause they dont care how fast nor how bad they drive. man i feel old when i say that and im only 19 and i have problems going 5 over the speed limit

i cant remember the cut off but it was different for each ford model and some still dont have it but the rev limiter in nuetral was programed in the computer by ford to protect the engine from people trying to damage them under warranty. i'm a ford mechanic and i see no problem with it. i see many cars that come in that have codes in it for max speed met or rev limiter met. also the only way to remove the rev limiter is to use a after market programer that can remove it. the computer we use from ford can not remove the rev limiter. the only things we can change are gear size and tire size under programmable parameters. the max tire size varys from vehicle depending on how big the factory tire is and some vehicles like say the taurus does not have that option.
