I have a 1988 ranger 4x4 xlt 2.9l does anyone know what the rev limiter is on these trucks? And my other question is i did 95 at 5000 rpms does that sound about right? I still had some rpms left but it wasent going any faster.

I think the limit is 5300 or 5400. You could run it to the limiter in first gear and look at the tach. I don't have a tach so can't help on the other question

I think so to ill see what it goes to in first but the tach turns yellow at 5500 so i guess thats the rev limit.

2.9s are rumored to have a rev limiter but I never found it reving to 6200.

I got mine to go over 6200 today in first gear. But when i went 95 it was doing 5000 rpms and no more is it because it didnt havr enough power to get to the rev limter?

the rev limiter on the 2.9 is whenever the valves start floating, I ran mine to 6500rpm once.
