I had a 96 Ranger about eight years ago using it as a parts truck as an independent contractor..bought it used with 122k..sold it wil 498k..and replaced it with ..forgive me..a 92 Geo Metro..yes used it to carry parts on a 300 mile per day route..paying my own gas..i needed the mpg (55 mpg)..and logged almost 600K on it before it finally gave up two weeks ago..I no longer use a vehicle for parts delivery...just commuting back and forth to work..Last week picked up a clean one owner '93 Ranger with 149K on the clock..had to put a starter on it..but hoping for many more miles out of it....My oldest son is a certified ASE tech across Ford, GM, Crysler, and Cummmings diesel...so I have a built in mechanic...but I'm sure I'll have questions from time to time...Greetings from the Nashville Tn area...PJ :icon_cheers:

Welcome,You sure put the miles on. What engine did your 96 Ranger have ? What engine does the 93 have ?

Howdy neighbor. You in Nashville itself? I'm just northeast right on the KY border.

Ranger's U[pdates..

For the record..the '96 had 122K when I bought it...498K when I sold it..the '93 I just acquired last week..is showing 49K..I was told it was 149K as it had sat for six years when the owner bought a newer truck...But..who really knows..Both had the 2.3 5speed...It does have a couple issues..so off to the Forum...:icon_bounceblue:

I know that the 2.3L is a great engine, 498K is a lot of miles. How much work did you do to it to get that many miles out of it ?

Sorry for the slow replies..but I work very odd late night hours..and do a lot of sleeping..lol..as far as work on the Ranger to go 498,000 miles..just normal maintinence...tires..lots of tires..two clutch assy..couple sets of brake pads..replaced just about every dang sensor on it..still couldn't kill the CEL...oil changes every 7,000 miles..that's about it...
