Back in May:
Bone Stock 302 V-8 out of a 98 Explorer
Catless and back exhaust
4.10 Posi rear end
Sniper tuner just to remove the Anti-Theft off the 98 explorer ECU
decent 245 width street tires (mustang profile :()

15.512 1/4th at 86.02, 2.251 60 foot

Today:
Replaced my camshaft synchronizer with the correct one
Raised my 4th gear shift 1000RPM
crappy 275 width street tires (Cobra rims, still stock mustang profile :()

14.878 1/4th at 89.99, 2.180 60 foot

Not a fast time compared to many cars, but I'm quite proud that I've managed to shave nearly 3/4ths of a second just by replacing a sensor and winding out my 3rd gear. *For the record, intake/exhaust Fox body 5.0's run 14.4-14.8*

Sadly This is all the truck has to give with its current setup *It is STILL shifting into 4th gear prior to crossing the line, and It hits the speed governor a SPLIT second after passing the line* so a cammed/header motor and a 28 inch tire for spring

Not bad! What headers and cam you running now and what's planned?

nice run with your truck....but the above statement is false... Ive run a 13.5 with nothing but intake/exhaust in a 92 notchback 5.0.

Stock cam and Headers, thats why I'm so happy with a 14.8 honestly :yahoo:

I'm going to pickup the CompCam kit *K14 or whatever it was, I have it at home written down*, roller rockers, and torque monsters once budget allows.... Just trying frantically to be 100% debt free by the end of next month.

Thank you, I was just making a contrast, you probably had a factory freak :headbang:

Fox-bodies were in all the motor trend articles as being 14.4-6 with professional drivers. Most amateurs with intake/exhaust I've seen running mid-high 14's

New-Edge stangs run about the same as well... The S-197 stangs were the first ones to crack 13's 'out of the box'

helps that I was at/or below sea level. With the air quality, all the fox bodies I know of ran 13's (albeit high) out of the box.

helps that I know how to drive too.

Dan,
The one thing I was cautioned about with the Explorer computer is not to go below a 114 deg lobe separation angle when picking a cam. Poor idle and low speed drivablity. Even guys with the '94-95' Mustangs have problems with that

From what I have seen a mint stock 5.0 Fox is nothing to take seriously. There was a mint one at the local 8th mile track that regularly got the tar beat out of it by a 2011 V6 automatic with 2.something gears.

It was like a one-legged-man in a butt-kicking contest.

Just give it more gas. It will go faster.

The cam kit I am going with has the cam that was recommended in a few articles that has exactly a 114 deg LSA. Thanks to your suggestions :icon_thumby:

That's a pretty impressive drop for just a little tweak. Was there decent traction there off the line?

Last time out my best 60 foot was 2.15, this time out it was 2.07 (But the best quarter was with a 2.18) so nothing special sadly.

Come spring I will have a good tire/radial and will be aiming for sub 2.0's

From Inside Line:
"Car and Driver measured the 1989 Mustang GT (functionally identical to the '92) to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and timed the car through the quarter-mile in 14.7 seconds at 94 mph"

That's pretty quick. You should definitely be happy. Any pics of the engine compartment?

Bone stock minus the lack of an climate control box and exhaust basically.

Stock intake box, and silencer, K+N Panel filter, And custom exhaust after the headers *Stock headers SUUUUUCK*

yeah....but what rearend did it have?

Ill try and see if I still have my timeslips.

Regardless, like I said in my original post, it had an intake and exhaust.

And people dont understand how much of a difference air quality makes.
