Restoring the old Eight Nine Stang

Did you pave the driveway yourself? Did you prep or just lay it, and did you reinforce it with rebar? It would suck if 5 years down the road it starts breaking up in large slabs because of soft earth underneath.

My brother in law is a contractor, and he did it. I live in a pretty rocky area, so we didn't bring any gravel in. The previous owner of the house put down some gravel, so it did have a little there. But, we did get 5,000 psi concrete - and industry standard is 3500 psi (IIRC). It contains the fibers of fiberglass for reinforcement as well.

EDIT: Here's a photo the night before

Man-o-man. I have neglected the old Stang this summer. She hasn't received all of the lovin' I thought I'd get to, but the Doctor bills piled up and took precedence.

The weather is about to go to hell here in the next week or two. Son-of-a-bitch, I say.

Here's a little cheering up video. The 5.0 Soundtrack!

EDIT: The new driveway bill also took precedence.

I was digging through some old pictures, and found a couple of pictures of my 85 GT. This car is what started my obsession with the 5.0 Mustang. I discovered after I had bought it that it had some fire damage. The car itself had not been on fire, but parked near a garage or something which was on fire. The only mod I did to it was an Edelbrock carb. I only owned it from April of 94 until January of 95, when I bought The Old Eight Nine.

Not the greatest pics, but it's all I've got.

Sharp looking stang shane.
Funny how the door handle on those ended up on the Ranger tailgates lol

The winter home for the Stang was purchased tonight. I bought a lean to carport kit to put next to the existing carport. It is freestanding so I can move it around if the neighbors or county gripes about it. It isn't assembled yet but pics will be posted when I get it built this weekend.

The guy took some pics of it before he took it down, and here they are.

Well, I didn't put but one full tank of gas in her all summer. I was scared to take her to work because of the construction we've got going on. This is the little carport I put up, and then boxed in with tarps. My baby's winter home......

Wow, not gonna drive her at all?

Hm, being in the south, I guess I'll just never fully understand how bad it is, with the conditions, idiot drivers, and salt. Never driven in snow before either.

Nice carport, btw.

I've had my fun in the snow with her (it's a freakin' donut machine). My year round transportation was a Mustang for about 7 years, and it's scary at times. My main reason is my new paint though. I don't want salt on it, and I don't want some a-hole to slide into it.

Do you lift it a little to get the weight off the tires to avoid flat spots?

No, but that's a good idea. Never thought of that before. I've been out of town for the last week and my F150 (it was sitting) took a bit for the tires to feel "right" again.

so since the car is parked now would be a good time to figure out your wheels, and put the GT taillights back in :thefinger:
