Restoring the old Eight Nine Stang

Ask and ye shall receive.

For those who are into Mustangs, I called Brothers Performance and the guy told me these Brentech headers are identical in shape to the BBK 1515's. I've seen several sources that say the BBK 1515 headers will work with GT40P heads, so I'm crossing my fingers these are going to work. They look like clear great on every cylinder but 7. Unfortunately I'm not going to know until March/April. I'm now going to try and find me a MAC 3 piece H-pipe so I can just swap out the mid section for emissions. I have cut down BBK X-pipe that I can make work in that section. Oh.....and to do all of this, I'm going to need a new welder.......shucks!

oh my. You're gonna have to detail the crap out of the engine to make it work with those super shiny beautiful things!

I was looking at the bolt kit that came with these headers, and it appears they sent me the bolts for a set of Chevy long tube headers. It only has 12 bolts for the heads, and it has 6 bolts/nuts for the flange. No studs and nuts. Damn it.

Just go to the auto parts store and get a set of header studs, use studs and not bolts, it makes install and alignment sooooooooo much easier.

My favorite car to ever exist!

I would suggest some STAGE 8 locking header bolts. They have a locking clip that keeps the bolts from backing out. When I had Hedman Hedders on my 91 I would literally have to tighten the bolts every other day:thefinger:. I wish I had the Stage 8 bolts! I hope they make a kit for my 5.4 Triton in my F150 when I do headers on it next year.:yahoo:

These aren't bad for line up, they have a one piece flange. My MAC headers I am replacing have 4 separate flanges, and it is the biggest PITA to line up. This is why I'm making the switch along with the damn bolts coming loose and making my blow the gasket. I called Brothers Perfomance and he concurred that the kit that was in my box is for a SBC with a universal 3 bolt flange. He sent the correct kit to me.

Wookie, I just bought some at AZ a couple months ago. I'm going to see how they work with these new headers. I couldn't even get the damn things started because of MAC's retarded 4 flanges. I love MAC mufflers and H-pipes, but their headers really suck.

I was going through some old photos and found these. Holy hell I forgot how bad it looked!!

Jesus why did I find this thread. I just made it through my first day without looking at a picture of my 90 GT I sold for the ranger.

I think what you're subconciously thinking is that you wish your ranger had a 5.0 in it.

Studs can be tightened and wont work their way out normally, no need for locking rings like there are with bolts. And wen I say alignment i mean its nice the have the middle two header studs in place to hang the headers on while you thread the two outer studs. It made a big difference putting the MAC headers on my 3.8l. ALso your gonna wish you had the seperated headers back after a while. The individual flange mounting design prevent exhaust leak alot better than the one piece flange design. Its all around avoidable, just easier with the MAC design. I loved it. Are your MACs shorties or long tubes?

I got the replacement bolt kit which just so happen to say BBK on the package. Myth: CONFIRMED??
