John Deere is a marketing genious..... people pay them to advertise for them.
JD are not innovators, everything they have ever applied to their equipment was stolen design from a better company.
JD has no R/D department, just steal ideas and market more Dept.

Like what ideas did they steal? IMO, they are more unique of a machine than the other guys.
Soundgaurd cab? Everybody else that had a cab was still vibrating tin boxes with windows when that came out, and nobody else had integrated ROPS.
Disc brakes that actually work? That 3020 I mentioned earlier was down to steel on steel, and it still stopped perfect. IH struggled with the concept of decent working disc brakes for years.
Fuel tank out front for more weight over the front wheels? That was pretty much a JD exclusive, started by the Waterloo Boy (which they bought out)
Powershift transmission? Thankfully they didn't touch IH's time bomb TA.
Planetary final drives? The 806 spread all over the shop still has big ol' bull gears like my 1946 John Deere B, only they are on the outside of the transmission case rather than inside. The 4010 had planetaries in '61 and they stayed with it.
That is really some of the quick big points that make a deere mechanically different than everybody else. If something good came out then usually nobody is very bashfull about using it, A-C came out with rubber tires, factory power steering, draft control, turbocharged diesel engines, powershift rear wheels and you are not holding it against IH that they copied all of it too.
This is a debate that has been going on for decades, I doubt we are going to settle it.
