replacing fuel tank/f-pump options?

I have a 87 ranger std L-box.I removed 2.3-fm145 and swapping in 88 bronco 2.9-fm146.I'm going over truck replacing all brake lines and hose/ all u-joints and cleaning and painting underside 4x4. My ? is I'm putting new f-tank in,new sender with low pump, the high pump looks bad/old. Can i get a high pump in tank 89-up sender for this model tank and will it work with motor.Is the sender elec. conn. the same or do i have to do some wiring.I want to have all new fuel pump and parts.Another ? on the frame from front to rear there's filter,high pump,then something that looks like a filter-the feed&return run thru it.what is it? thanks, Bill
