Okay here is my scenario,

I got a 1993 Ranger XLT 2.3L Manual and I am about to replace the flywheel and starter or just the starter drive/bendix gear but ill get on to that on another thread.

Does anyone have any advice for removing the transmission and whatever is involved in this. I plan on trying to replace the clutch as well so no need to notate that.

thanks,

Randy

Dropping the tranny is pretty straight forward. Air tools will make this a lot easier. I removed the exhaust cat pipe for more room. Remove the crossmember & lower the tail of the tranny to give yourself easy access to the top bolts holding the tranny to the block.

yeah like he said, but i drained the tranny first so i didnt make a huge mess/ i also used a pipe and a ratchet strap to hold the tranny while i wrestled it around going back together. put the pipe inside the cab across the access hole where the shifter went and wrap the strap around the tranny and the ratchet handle laid on the pipe. this way i could move it how i wanted and didnt have to worry about eating the tranny. i do believe the flywheel bolts are like 80-120 lbs of torque but i cant remember. hope this helps
