I have a 93 ranger with a 4.0L. I did a bunch of work on my truck before Moab and pulled my charcoal canister to make room for a shock hoop and it still ran fine forabout three months till it over heated and cracked a head gasket. Well in the process of replacing the head gaskets and the heads I had to replace the rocker arms too. Also replaced the plugs. After I put it all back together and tried running it, it hasn't ran right since. There is a huge lack of power, acceleration, and runs rough. The only code that comes up is the canister purge selinoid. Anyone have any ideas?

When my head gaskets went in january, here is what the shop replaced

All new pushrods
All new rocker arms
All new lifters
New thermostat
All new spark plugs
Resurfaced/cleaned heads
All new gaskets from the heads up
New head bolts
Coolant, oil and oil filter
Water pump (I asked them to add that in)
Misc bolts/clamps/etc.

They said whoever did the headgaskets the first time did not reassemble the engine properly and over torqued the rockers and under torqued the heads, causing the need for the extra parts in addition to just the head gaskets

.

Same thing happened to me. Had a bad head gasket. Tore it all down, cleaned everything, had the heads resurfaced, cleaned, and valves redone. Put it all back together with all new gaskets, exact torque specs/tightening sequences. Same problem, has a miss on cylinder 2 and my spark plug is oil covered. Poor vacuum at around 14-15. My catalytic converter will glow red when running, so I am assuming I am getting poor combustion in that cylinder. I am suspecting a poor valve job from the shop and that a valve on cylinder #2 is not seating properly.
