I have a 1998 4.0L that died on me the other day. I pulled the plugs and did a spark test with no spark on the two plugs I tested.
I pulled the electrical connector to the coil and I had 12.4 volts through one wire. I went ahead and replaced the coil and no fix. It cranks over, but never fires. I should have tested the ohms on the old coil but it was a Saturday and I didnt have an ohm meter and only 5 minutes before the parts store closed.
The Tach does not move at all when I try to start, as I know it generally will with other vechicles. Im thinking Cam Sensor or the Computer.
I've also had a history of extended cranking on certain occassions, which I was thinking was fuel filter or Spark plug, however now Im sure its related to this issue.
Am I missing something or am I on the right track?
