I was driving along and the transmission broke and went into neutral. I thought about it and researched and installed a new torque converter.

Once in and filled up the fluid, I found that reverse was weak or not existent at all.

The gear shift is also acting funny now, It is hard to put the shifter into Park.

It only goes forward in D not Overdrive... it seems to shift fine through the forward gears.

I was just wondering what I should be looking at to get reverse back, Bands? Servo? Vac line? Seal? O-ring?

Thanks a lot!:icon_thumby:

i would first check the ajustment of the shifter. also look to see if the shifter arm is bent

If you don't have time to check the adjustment on the shifter then in the meantime I would suggest NOT letting it idle in park anywhere. I don't know if you've ever heard about the defective junk Chrysler products which are popping into reverse because of a design flaw but if you have then you know about the deaths resulting from people leaving their jeeps idle and having them pop into reverse. If your linkage is not adjusted properly the same thing could happen to you so in the meantime if you're driving the thing only let it run when you are in it.

Thanks for that safety tip!

The reverse lights come on, but doesn't move anywhere.

You said check the shifter adjustment, where should it be adjusted?

Thanks for all the help!

Brian
