Replace it or fix it 5 speed????

Well earlier today I was coming home and I got on the high way went to put it in fifth and my whole shifter went to my dash and didnt go into fifth gear I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what it is and if I would have to replace it or if its fixable Thanks by the way it a 1994 Ford Ranger STX 4.0 4x4

I think my prob is shifter bearing

have you taken the boot off yet? Mine did that and it was the shift tower bolts striped out and the shifter wasnt engageing rail inside. My other one was so wore out on the bottom of the shifter it would almost hit the dash.
