I have a 94 ranger 4x4. It had manual hubs and I don't know if they were original. Since getting the truck I replaced the locking mechanism with warn locking hubs. Anyway, I'm going to replace the bearings on both sides. I need the large socket with teeth to remove the spindle lock nut. Does anyone know the size of this nut? I hear there are different sizes for auto and manual hubs....Thanks

You can get them with exposed teeth too instead of having a flange around them like that one does - I prefer the flange style, it keeps a better grip on the nut and you can use them with an impact if necessary.

Auto hubs have a big hex nut that does in fact take a different socket.

Yep. I agree .. the one with exposed teeth isnt as good as the one with the flange. In fact its a knuckle buster. Just did the front end rebuild. Just to mention a few things I ran into.
The bearings may not want to come off the spindle. I used a slide hammer to get one off.

If also changing the spindle bearings, you can go to autozone and borrow a bushing puller. Looks like this ...

The spindle bearings were a pain to get out especially on one side for me. When installing I used a socket that fit and lined up with the OD of the race and a ball joint Clamp to push the back in slowly. Remember not to go to far in with the bearing. You want to leave enough space to pull them out again if necessary 20 more years from now. :)

Some of this might help you ..
