Repairing a Rotted Valve Cover 4.0 OHV

So I just replaced this valve cover with a much better junkyard cover. Id like to know if this can be salvaged. I know there are many 4.0 OHV owners that need a drivers side valve cover. So I was thinking on repairing, and restoring it back to some normalcy and reselling it. If so can you give me some ideas what I can use. On the photo enclosed, this is the worse part of the valve cover.

It looks like it could be possibly salvaged , but again, I'm not sure if there's any type of JB weld etc, that would work.

Wire brush down to shiny metal,
then may be able to use a larger flat washer under that ValveCoverBolt head
if there is enough thickness remaining in the flange metal?

I wonder if they sell a metal Bondo type stuff thats resistant to heat.

As an exercise in learning sheetmetal and welding skills....yes. But you would have many hours into the repair. How much is a valve cover worth?

With that flange rusting through around that bolt hole, I wouldn't waste any more time or effort on it. Scrap heap.

If you tried to sandblast the rust off that cover, you'd probably find a lot more metal that's too thin or full of rust pinholes.

Just buy new covers lol. Some things aren't worth restoring.

You cant get covers for a 4.0 OHV anywhere, Go look, let me know how you did

Its worth it's weight in Gold. There are no Drivers side 4.0 OHV valve covers to be found anywhere, counting the junkyards too. Took me 3 months to find one finally.

clean it up and fill it in with tack welds. a piece of aluminum or brass pressed against the other side will keep the weld flat and wont stick. Also works well for filling in large gaps. But I mig weld so much I can 3D print with it now.

From the looks of it seems like that even with judicious heat control it would just be burning through.
