98 b2500, replacing the fuel pump in the next week or so and since it has 3/4 tank of gas in it I'm going to take the bed off to get to the tank. Besides the bolts that hold it to the frame and the fuel filler neck what else needs to come undone to pull the bed? Thanks in advance.

Bed bolts, fuel filler and electrical for tail lights are all that need to be undone to remove the bed.

If you have limited manpower, you can just tilt the bed up at the front, and support it with 2X4, chair, file cabinet, someone who likes to stand around doing nothing, or a jack stand(large). You don't need a lot of room to remove and replace the sending unit, so it doesn't have to go too high.
*I* would put some blocks on the chassis that would catch a falling bed before squishing me, just to be a little safer. I think the spare tire would work as a catcher, though you might have a headache, depending...

I used to remove the bed by myself...using 2x4x6' to help it over the wheels it just slides off...usually.

For what you are doing it doesn't need to come off as mentioned...either way you may need to replace the bolts and/or C-clips on the frame because they tend to rust, snap, or seize and snap with enough pressure on them.

A long handled ratchet and maybe a short piece of pipe over the end of it for leverage...clean the holes out good before you start and have a few spare torx 55 bits around in case you get some like the ones I had that strip easily...

I just went through this process on a 96 Ranger; had to replace the fuel sending unit. See post by 'cnord' 'the votes are tallied....drop tank or lift bed' -- there are some pictures.

I removed the 6 hold down bolts; removed the fasteners for the filler neck. Did not muck with any of the electrical. Replaced the rear hold down bolts and left 1/2 of clearance and tipped up the bed while still 'attached' to the frame. This provided plenty of access to replace the sending unit.
