Removing mounting bracket from track slide

In my quest to get bucket seats in my reg cab I broke the pivot point for the seat's slide handle. I do have some different seats (third set. sheesh) that are going to work this time, but the floor mounting brackets aren't compatible with the regular cab. Removing the floor bracket from the original seat and putting it on the new slide would work but I'm wondering if it's advisable to do so. I assume I would just put in a bolt to stop the slide from coming off the bracket in place of the metal stopper that's there now.

Should I do this or just find a way to make a new pivot point for the original mechanism. I just want to ensure that such a modification would be safe and wouldn't cause other problems.

I put 2001 explorer seats in 97 Ranger. I unbolted the tracks from the seats. Didnt have to mess with the slide stop.

You can sure do that.

Measure the track lengths before you get crazy... I put 2006 extended cab seats in a 1998 single cab recently and found that in addition to the floor brackets being different, one track on each seat was also too long and I had to cut it off.

I actually didn't even worry about making sure the stopper was present... the seat can't slide far enough either way to come off the tracks.
