Removing Fugly Window Tint

I've always put this all the way on the back of my "to-do" list, but I'm finally tired of the stupid tint. It is so bad now that it has turned pink. Anyone know of a good techique to remove the tint? How hard is it? What do I need? Will a sheetrock knife work? I am scared of leaving scratches on the window, so I need some suggestions.

take it to the tint shop and have them deal with it

take some washer fluid and put it in a windex bottle and cover the window as you take a single edged razorblade and just work it off it takes a little bit but if you get the washerfluid under part of the film then keep soaking it and it will peal off. it will clean up with regular window cleaner. if you were close by i'd take it off for you ..i used to detail cars at a local dealership when i was in my 20's and that's how we did it then.. hope this helps

Peal the tint itself off, the spray it down with some glass cleaner and use a single edge razor blade to remove the glue residue. Scrape all the same direction and you won't scratch a thing.

I need to remove the tint from my Dakota as well, it's got some shitty DIY job that you cant see out of at night, it's getting professionally tinted afterward.

use an ammonia based glass cleaner.. works great after the stuff has been peeled.. softens the glue an you can take a razor blade an scrap it.. i just had to do it considering i got a ticket for it being too dark.. vinegar works good as well.

do that but instead try using some ammonia and a rough towel, spray or rub on the left over glue let it sit a minute and wipe off that easy.

I've always just worked a corner up and pulled.... then clean up the residue with a razor blade and either window cleaner or water with just a lil bit of dish soap. I've removed tint I put on a couple times... once to go darker, once because I did it on a nice day and it dipped below freezing that night an froze the tint, and once cuz a cop said so. lol.

Yup, like everyone's saying- use windex and a razorblade. Soak the residue with windex and make sure your razor blade is brand-new, and don't be shy about changing it frequently- a dull razor blade will scratch your glass much worse than a sharp one.

when i went to get my windows tinted they only charged me 5 dollars a window to remove the purple tint. well worth it to not have to deal with the hassle.

If it peels off in little strips because of the cold weather, try heating it up with a hair dryer- once it is off of there use soapy water or windex and a razor and scrape the glue/goo off.

I've heard heat gun also does the trick.

Let us know if it works. My Ranger has that purple tint on the side windows. While it is a bit ugly, it doesn't bother my vision, so I left it alone.

easy off oven cleaner works wonders on window tint.
thats what the tint shop here used to remove the film and glue off of my 84 Chevy.
