Removable doors write up

i thought about doing a lip of some sort for the bottom, maybe bolt in? idk.. i'm looking at it.. to make it more like a jeep tub has.

marine audio equipment, rhino lined floors, off road whatproof seats... what's the point? lol
Ha
structural integrity maybe?

that and in some places it's against the law to not have anything to keep stuff from rolling out. i plan on takin mine off this summer though, i've been trying to find a way to make it work since i have power windows/locks

I have power windows and locks too. I used some of these.

You have 8 wires running to each door, so you need 4 male and 4 female connectors. You put 1 male and 1 female plug on the door and 1 male and 1 female plug on the truck, that way you can't mix up the plugs.

i used these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRF-70404/?rtype=10

didnt spend but a few bucks more then the trailer plugs, and i did the same thing as jester did. 1 male on door end, 1 female on door end, that way theres no question on what goes to what when u have faded 30 yr old wiring. i took the fender off and drilled another hole(on inner fender) for one of the loom clamps and moved the clamp close to the door. that way i dont have to "fish" for the plugs if they fall down between the outer and inner fender

and yes the doors help with integrity of the body but thats a good excuse to start on your cage. not as bad unless u roll, but hell its always bad when u do that right?

now jester needs to mail me some of that motivation so i can paint my jambs before its doorless season again lol

Ok I figured it out. I had my tolerances too tight. I took .010" of my pins and now they slide in fairly easily. And it is much easier if you have someone else holding the door while you line up the pins.

I had to do the same thing, and these aint the kinda doors that u wanna be taking on anx off

the dirty plastic diverters slide in when its raining and i dont get wet really.

i also run pull up vynil "doors" that keep me dry when its seriously raining and blowing like madd:shok:

aaahhh i remember when i'd leave my jeep doors at home, and i'd have to run some schweet trash bag and duct tape jobs on it. f/w with the tires 2ft out of the fender would get your ass soaked.:icon_rofl:

oh yeah....my tires are out a bit:D

I like the idea, I remember a while back someone made some tube doors with modified blazer rear tire holders. I've been wanting to do the same thing but maybe with something different. This would be great to just pull off the OE doors put the tube ones on and go.

Can we get a sticky on this? Seems to show a lot of interest. I searchd and searched for something like this and turned up nothing. Theb one day I stumbled on this write up

I ran all last summer with my doors off. I also made a small mirror that bolted on to one of the fender bolts. Ill get a picture sumtime.

I just used a OEM replacement mirror. I took a bolt the same size as my pins and bent it 90 degrees, then cut the head off, and welded the mirror bolt to the end. A little grinding to clean up the welds, squirt some paint on it, and there you have it. I am going to replace the bottom nut with a wing-nut.

Ok so I did this mod in 2 hrs today! After I re aligned the doors it works great! Not just gotta do some measuring for the tube doors asap:icon_welder: I will have a build thread for the tubes in the fab section maybe

mine would look goofy without the doors tho... dang stripes on my truck- i'm going back to 2 tone dangit
