Remembering...

I saw a group of guys the other day at a truck stop I forget what the name of the site was that they belonged to but they said they where headed out to the midwest for a site get togeather the one guy owned a semi and hauled cars for a living they had 6 rigs on his truck and there was an f350 with a 5th wheel trailer with 3 rigs on it. They said they where all just splitting the fuel and tolls it was a good idea and luckly they new a guy that did it for a living and wheeled as well. You figure by the time they all split fuel and tolls it would be cheaper then driving all 9 rigs out that far.

that is a cool Idea and a lot less wear on the rigs, But how did all the drives get to there trucks. It had to be a hell of crowed ride spreading 9 guys between a semi and a f350.

didnt really notice to tell you the truth I no the f350 was a crew cab i believe and the semi had a sleeper cab on it so i imagine they packed in or had a another vehicle i talked with them for about 5 mins then hit the road so i didnt see them come or go. Either way it would still be cheaper even if they had another vehicle tagged along with them.

I don't know anyone on this site, and worst of all, I don't even have any friends that wheel! :icon_confused::bawling::annoyed:
The wheeling (if you can even call it that) I do is pretty weak in my stock truck since I'm not willing to do anything where I may potentially get stuck when I'm alone.

I don't live that far from Detroit, and I try to get out and go trail bombing a couple times a year (usually north of Bay City), shoot me a PM if you want to go sometime (just went to Silver Lake a couple weeks ago).

Jim - is Sparkz still open to have groups at his place?

Pretty sure, but when I was there last year you couldn't see the trail anymore from all the growth (weeds/grass). Not a whole lot there for trails. Harlan KY would be a beter option.

I know that is a lot of work, but what about having a Moderater for each region, state or area. the mods main job would be to help set up quarterly or yearly get togerthers. the event could be anything from a meet and great lunch to a overnight Camping trip with wheeling. I would be a good Idea to have a few diff. events so everybody could come and enjoy.

That's about four hours from me, I'd be up for a trip. It will be easier next summer, and I'd mostly be along to help out/ride along, but it sounds like fun.

Sounds good. I'll need help winching my schoolbus up the hill to the campsite.

We can take my little dozer through first so the trucks can make it. We need to scrape the loam off the forest floor so we can get some traction and push the dead trees off the paths.

Your refering to Sparkz.

The best time to go to Sparkz is in the fall. The best way to repay Sparkz for letting us play around on his land is to drag logs down off the mountain to his house so he has firewood to heat his house for the winter.

Sparkz has a broken back and a limited income due to his back/disability. He heats his house with wood in the winter. It's always a blessing for him if he can find someone to drag some logs off the mountain and cut them up for firewood. One year we drug some logs down, cut them and stacked them next to the house on our last day there.

Will, I couldn't even imagine taking that bus back in to his house and trying to turn it around.

er cant believe that some one can be here for such long time...

i do like the idea of the state regional things. heck iv got the trails and all that but my biggest issues been the people...mostly just hard to get good people to go out with.

It's got 40" tires and lots of ground clearance. It will go right up and there's room to turn around at the campsite. And I think having the little dozer there will help improve that campsite too. Push all that brush and stuff back so we have some room.

But I haven't heard from Sparkz in a long time either. I tried to call him because I know a girl that was getting rid of one of those dogs that he loves.
