hi guys just a quick question, upping compression on 1975 302,just wondered if i took 6 tho of heads and 6tho of deck total 12 tho weather i would need to machine the inlet to compensate for removed metal if i do that with 1.619 comp pistons i can get piston about .005 down the jug

cheers steve

According to Ford you can mill a total of .040 before having to mill the intake. However.......... you should test fit the intake first before doing any intake milling. I milled a set of Canfield heads .060 (block was done .010) and milled a Vic Jr to fit. Then I used those same heads on another block and didn't have to mill the repop 3x2 intake that I used on it. I did have to enlarge the intake bolt holes to get the bolts in, milling the heads moves the intake bolt holes towards the centerline of the block

thanks mate, get it done in next few weeks, moving on slowly

If I remember right, the 73-76 302's had the higher deck height, .023 above normal. Sounds like your getting back to where it ought to be.

thats the plan mate, all depends on how much i take off,,got 1.619 comp height piston in mind with 12 to 16 tho of head and deck gets me close to 0 deck
