Well, here's a picture of the 2.9 rebuilt on the engine stand before it went into the ranger.

Here's how it looks installed. Can't see much of it after all the stuffs hooked back up. The silver paint does make things easier to see while working on it.

And here's the truck it went into almost together except for the hood.

The 2.9 was rebuilt stock except for I port matched the upper and lower intakes and the lower intake to match the heads. I also installed pacesetter headers but had to fab a tube and header port to hook it too for the EGR line (87' truck). I also had to fab a new oval to round collector pipe behind the header cross over pipe to the cat. I ended up using only one cat to make the exhaust work. Since the engine and 5-speed were out I also put a new clutch and flywheel on it. The new engines is running good but I still haven't broke it in fully. I'm looking forward to see what it'll do.

Looks very good man!
Beautiful work, I like it a lot
I really like you ranger also, could use some Boggers tho...:icon_thumby:

Thanks, next set of tires will be more agressive for sure even though the truck's 2WD. I bought the ones on the truck at an auction for $135. Five tires with rims, couldn't turn that deal down.

how much did that cost?

machine work = $250 included; block honed, jet tanked, cam bearings & freeze plugs installed, heads machined flat.
rebuild kit = $500 included; rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump, timing chain, new head bolts, new water pump, cam & lifters.
misc. = $200 included; fluids, hoses, cap/rotor/wires, etc...
headers = $200
new flywheel/clutch = $200

I did the assembly myself and had alot of help from this site.
Thanks all.

Great job, man! That's a damn nice truck you put together.

Here's another pic of the 2.9 from the other side.

These two pics are of the port I welded into the header for the EGR tube I made out of a 3/8" brake line and the other is of the exhaust collector I made.

Here's a pic of the complete truck under it's own power again (with snow fall of course).

again though..nice work

Hot damn that little beast looks good. If only I had the initiative to make mine look like that. One question though.

Whats this

Sorry for the super small pic

DangerRanger3, what you see is just the oil level sending unit plug behind the oil temp sending unit. Kind of misleading in the picture.
Thanks guys, I guess the next thing to fix on the truck is the gas tank sending unit so my gas gage works.:D

Had to put my props in one more time....just because

you used stock heads?..all that work for stock heads? I'll pray they never, ever, never crack on ya

so....
when you comin to do mine?

That is a very pretty engine. What king of paint did you use on the valve covers?
