I have just finished rebuilding a 87 2.3l, new piston rings and all bearings. I just put it and and it fired up first try. The only problem is there is a knock sound from the valve train. Its not very loud but its noticable. Any ideas what this could be from?? Thanks

maybe the lifters are outta adjustment?

they are hydraulic lifters, so if they weren't replaced, one could be collapsed

they are like $7 a piece, so it's not a bad thing to replace, not particularly hard either once you figure it out...

there are no adjustments in the valves or lifters... it turns out i had low oil pressure as the pump must not have primed... i got oil pressure now and the knocking stoped. Thanks for the input tho
