I have a 1995 ford ranger two wheel drive five speed transmission. I have a really bad knock and decided to rebuild the engine I'm currently in the process of removing the engine to see what kind of damage was done and decide from there can I remove the ac without discharging the freon everywhere? Should I remove the radiator? Any thing else I do

Ed

Do not discharge the A/C. Just take a wire and put it out of the way somewhere. Dont remove anything you dont have to.
Radiators are usually pretty easy to remove either way. Did you remove the hood?

Are removing just the engine or are you taking the trans too?

Ed if you take the AC loose and the condenser you can work the hoses and lines and lay the entire AC system over the passenger fender, without discharging it. It is a 2 man job as you maneuver it from the engine to the fender, one guy on the AC unit the other holding the condenser. I just lay several layers of protection on the fender and then lay everything across the fender. Done this several time and never had any problems with the AC afterwards, just take your time moving things out and back in place.

Thanks is there a rebuild thread on here I looked and didn't see one might be hiding should I remove the radiator? And how far can you bore these blocks I was thinking 30 over and a trusted site for a good master rebuild kit fair price

Ed

Yes take the Radiator out, and its easier to pull engine & trans together than fighting with the bell housing bolts.

Any good rebuild kits you guys would recommend?
