I am thinking of rebuilding my 2.9, but its been a pain just getting it apart from all of the corrosion.

the exhaust manifolds are rusted onto the heads pretty good,all of the head bolts except one have come out of the block, thought the exhaust manifold bolts are mostly frozen, ive tried heat and pb blaster and its still not doing the job, so
im thinking of cutting the exhaust pipes before the cat so i can lift the rusted together manifold and head right out of the truck. with this operation id have to replace the heads and mainfolds, so im thinking getting headersand new heads;

are there any performance cyl heads for the 2.9 and headers that bolt on allowing me to reuse the existing block and intake manifolds? or should i just replace all of the removed parts with junk yard parts from another 2.9L?

and who knows where to rent an engine hoist in boston?

All depends on how much $$$ you got to throw at it??

World Products makes a heavier head that bolts right on. Less prone to cracking. I would suggest heading that way, Although some have had success with J/Y units, these can tend to be a roll of the dice.

for the dollars spent...you might come out ahead with a very nice 4.0 upgrade ...just an option
