Reassemble m5od shifter assembly.

I was changing my transmission oil in my 93 with a m5od and can't remember where the shift bushing went. (my fault). I think its the shifter bushing, it's not the one that goes around the ball on the shift stub, but the other rubber bushing, does it go under or over the plate that bolts on with the 3 torx bits? Thank you.

After some more reading I don't think its the shifter bushing. It looks like a black rubber bushing but it seems like if i put it under that metal plate, it won't seal on the gasket but I could be wrong.
