i have a stock 2wd 94 ranger that i use like a big truck lol i need to upgrade the rear gears but dont know whats in it now the #s are s362b 3 45 75 4a25 any help would be great thanks
the first part are just manufacturing specs but what you want to look at is where the 3 45 is. on the axle tag in this place is the gear ratio. so you have a open 3.45 gear diff(sux man i'm sorry, good gas milage though). if the tag says say 3L73 that means there would be a limited slip with 3.73 gears. then the number right after (75) means you have the 7.5in diff. the tag on an 8.8in would say 88. i would say an upgrade to 3.73 or 4.10 would be an awesome improvement over what you have. i would prolly go with 4.10. what size are the tires you have on there.
thanks for the # breakdown the rearend sounds a bit weak but its pulled alot of weight thanks ima go with 4 10 ive heard great things about at the moment im running 235/75r15 but i want 32/11.50 15s
ii was running 32x11.50 15s on the truck in my avatar, with 3.73s, and it was a dog man. 4.10s probably wouldnt help that much. id go with 4.56s to get the best power while keeping the revs sensible. besides, theyre cheaper for some reason. here you go man. drool fest http://www.trsfabandoffroad.com/products/ford_75-88_gears.htm <----clicky
don't think they make 4.30 gears for the 7.5. i have 4.56's and they are perfect with my 31's and hopefully 32.5's next summer. if you want a l/s for that axle, let me know as i have one new in the box. i went with a Detroit.
4 56 gears can i find them in anything stock im trying to find something cheap or to trade a 89 5.0L plus trans for the parts to upgrade its my dd and i need more muscle out of it i pull cars often and worried that ima brake something
