rear vibration at 60 mph-94 ranger

1 have a 1994 ranger 3.0 litre-5 speed, standard cab short wheel base 4x4.
I had the wheels balanced twice and still have a vibration at about 60 mph,I
am thinking rear u-joint. Any other advice? I am waiting for the snow to melt before I want to climb under the truck.Thanks.

probably u-joint, you hear any noise in rearend cause could b loose pinion nut?

Vibration at 60 is usually tires. Pull the driveshaft, Check BOTH u-joints with the driveshaft out, check the pinion for adverse play.
Also, check the axle flanges. Block the front tires, jack up the rear end and spin the back tires. It's best to have someone in the truck just incase it somehow comes off the jack.
I chased a rear vibration for weeks to find a bent axle flange.

Did you get them roadforced?


Have you rotated the tires and seen if it follows them?

I had the same thing going on. Thought it was my tires too even though they were balanced. Turned out to be my double carden going out.

I would have to agree that rotating the tires sould be done before tearing your truck apart...i did have this issue once, it turned out that the steel belts in the rear tires broke/snapped somehow...but i did jump the truck a couple times...after replacing the tires it was good

thanks for the info,I think I am going to send it off to a shop(hope they don't screw me),they said they will run it with the wheels off and go from there.I can't hear any different noises and everything feels tight.
