you will have to replace the whole back window if you want glass. what I did was go down and get a piece of cheap plexiglass from ace hardware. While you are there have them cut it for you it is much easier that way. with a piece approx 1/4 to 1/2inch bigger the size of the hole, I went and took the orginal latch off the broken glass. to do this you will need to remove the pin that causes the latch to pivot. under the latch there are two screws remove these screws. once you have done this you can slide the piece of plexi into the track. (the next part you will prob. want a friend and a sharpy) with the plexi in place have the friend climb in side the truck and hold the latch in the aprop, place while he is doing this.(don't point and laugh at them stuck in the back seat and no real confertable way out. they tend not to like that.) take the sharpy and mark where the screw holes need to be placed. at this point I would suggest getting some scrap plexi and going to the drill and play with drilling holes till you feel that you can do it with out cracking the plexi. if I remeber right speed was the key. now take the latch and screw that two parts together. and place the pin in the latch pivot. and slide it into place.
now what I also did for mine because of the factory privacy glass I need to tint the plexi. I just went down to autozone and picked up the limo tint that came close to matching. the hardest part of the whole process was the tinting. the reason for using plexi was the fact that it will flex enough to slide into the tracks also for a side note I have had the plexi window in for over a year I have never really had a problem with in leaking or not sealing and it has been in very heavy rain, car washes and snow covering 95% of the sliding window. I will see how much of my todo list I get done, if I make good progress I will go and remove the plexi glass and disassable it for pics and mesuerment. but no promises I already promised to do a plugs and wires and oil in my old mans truck. along the fact that I just bought a my first electric bass guitar and amp tonight. I might get side tracked.
I did the same thing when I blew out the rear sliding window in my old canopy. I got the plexi glass for very cheap, and it took me about 15 minutes to install (after about 2 hours of cleaning up broken glass, I had the rear window of my cab open too, it made a mess). That would be the cheapest way, and if its anything like what I had, it can be a permanent solution.
