I had the rear pinion seal replaced at dealer and it still leaks - now they say it may be the slipyoke that's worn and it's causing it - does anyone know if that's possible or are they just trying to pull one on me. The leak is where the pinion seal is, in front of the differential. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

There is no slip yoke in the rear end.

Pinion seal leaks can, however, be caused by a floppy pinion gear. This will generally damage quite a few other things.

If the seal is good, which it should be since it was just replaced, the leak is most likely caused by incorrect pinion bearing preload, a loose pinion locknut, or a worn pinion bearing/race.

As MAKG said, there is no slip yoke on the rear end, it's a fixed yoke.

Thanks, MAKG and Evan -- greatly appreciated

The pinion yoke can also develop a groove in it casing the seal to leak, you can either replace the pinion yoke or speedy sleeve the bearing surface.
