rear main seal sleeve

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 4.0. I have the updated rear main seal and a low mileage crank in good condition, no scoring on the crank. Can I skip the repair sleeve and just install the new seal?

Yes, the sleeve and larger seal, is only used when crank journal is marked/scratched so seal would get torn up.
So use regular 4.0l rear seal.

'97 4.0l crank should have 8 bolt pattern for flywheel/flexplate, '96 and earlier were 6 bolt pattern, so just a heads up
