So I have a 94 sidestep bed, with a 3-color (amber) rear light assembly, attached to a 93 cab, that came stock with a 2-color rear light assembly. I have everything wired so everything works except the amber turn signal because it didn't exist for the 93.

Is there relatively simple/cheap way to get the amber turn signal to work?

Obviously not a HUGE deal since everything works properly and the amber is now just for show, but I am curious.

Thanks.

Just swap the light housings out... although... 93 did have the 3 color light housings my friends 93 has it. they didn't swap to 2 bulb setups until 00+ and the older first/second gen rangers.

Like I said, it's not imperative or anything. I just want the amber to work. If it doesn't, everything is fully functional as is. I have no problem leaving it. I was just asking.

Personally... I'd hook something up to it so you can have flashers on a switch by themselves... I find mine to be quite handy.

YMMV

Hello

My way would be a pain in the ass to do. I would rewire it so it work correct. Find the wires under the dash for front signals for your your rear signals. For rear brake lights tap into your switch under the pedal. Leave your park lights alone.

Hmm.. I like this idea... Tell me more.
Well.. You'd need to go to the junk yard and get the harness from a pickup that would work in that turn signal spot...

Then you'd need a 4 prong relay. Run those wires from the sockets to the engine compartment where you place a relay.

Then you need to wire a turn signal flasher in between the sockets and the relay. Then wire up the relay to a switch in the cab... and bang.

You got an auxiliary flasher...

Both lights will flash at the same time, and they'll be amber so you'll still be legal. But this allows a bit more flashing lights in the rear in case you have to stop on the side of the road. Personally, any more lights I can have on the ass end of my truck the better if it saves some dumb ass from rear-ending me when I'm pulled over.

Here's a (quick) diagram:

Like I said... Quick... Haha... but you see you would need to connect both lights together to the turn signal flasher, and then you'd need to run that to the relay. Then run the power and ground wires for the relay. Then run a line to a switch in the cab!

If it were me, I'd put the relay and the turn signal flasher together as close as possible, and I'd also make some sort of a waterproof box similar to the under-hood fuse box for them.
