From that angle they all look the same.

Try a PIC of the rear cover?

It's the original as far as i know, i was figuring i would need one from the back, but im laying in the bed typing and its 1:11 in the morning, i will get one in the morning to be on the safe side

shouldnt your door post have the info? Then the tech library has a whole breakdown of the axle codes.

7.5... They didn't have 8.8s behind 2.9s or in that year....

i'm driving an example that came factory with 2.9l fm-146 d35, 1354m, 8.8. much better truck than the 88 it replaced.and once i figure out the 8 wires that are different on the 4.0l swap it'll be even better:icon_thumby:

it should but sometimes there is doubt about whether the door is origional to the truck or if its the same axle that the truck came with.

to clear up that doubt you just compare the vin number on the door tag to the vin tag.

8.8s weren't limited to the 4.0l. Technically they were, but I have seen some screwups, like a 8.8 behind a '94 2.3l, i believe even the door code matched.
