Ok I noticed my rear end is starting to leak around the seal. I have 237k on the truck. Now it was suggested I replace the seal, no brainer there, and the rear end dope. Would it be better to replace it with a synthetic or would your run of the mill everyday gear oil be sufficient?

Run the 80-90 in it and you would be fine. If you are going to rebuild the whole rearend then you can run synthetic if you want.
Which seal is leaking?
If it is the pinion seal make sure that you torque the nut to about 30 ft lbs and if it is an axle seal look at the axle and make sure it isn't worn at the bearing. If it is you can buy a bearing and seal that relocates the bearing to a differnet spot on the axle.

Well I havent actually looked too hard at it, I noticed it yesterday and it stays parked most of the time seein how the other car gets better gas mileage. I will check it out and make sure nothing else is going on. I certainly appreciate your help on this.

Thanks,
Carey
