Im looking to possibly upgrade the gears in my rear end. Currently i have the dana 28s n i believe the stock 2.56 gears (not sure if thats exact number). The truck gets up to speed pretty good for an old tired 2.8l but i feel like the motors gotta work pretty damn hard to get there and especially if i have to take the highway, anything above 50mph is a chore. it will hold good at about 60 to 65 but its pushin it and im also looking into a better gear ratio for fuel mileage. Any suggestions on a good gear size i should move up to?

We do have a search function you can use, Bro. Lots of info on this site. There should be a plate on the axle that tells you the size the axles are and the gear ratios you have (if they are stock). With a V6 you don't loose a lot of power with the wrong gear ratio and a bit taller tires. I run 33x12.5x15 A/T tires with a 4.10 gear and I have plenty of power with my 4.0L and I get 24 mpg on the highway with a roof rack and basket attached.
