that's 18 inch pounds of drag. you can turn that with your hands, no tools needed.
since this part is cheap take your VIN to a Ford dealer,. you'll usually get the part then, or next day with no shipping.

you should also replace the crush sleeve.

Yes. If I recall correctly, pinion preload is measured with the carrier out, also.

Though it's not the official proper way to do it, you can just remove the pinion nut and flange, replace the pinion seal and then put the flange and nut back on. You have to be careful though. Mark the nut and rnd of pinion shaft before disassembly so you can put it back as close as possible to the same tightness it has now. Also, use Loc-tite on the threads.

The original seal # is F89W-4676-AB. 1ST picture is the silicone residue on the side of the seal the 2nd is the original next to the 714675 seal that slid right in the housing. The 3rd is the original seal next to the 3604 seal that is obviously much larger.

Ended up ordering my seal directly from Ford and everything went back together smooth. Thanks everyone for the tips appreciate it a lot!

I am no expert here but these are the videos I used when I replaced mine:

The second one was a little long winded and there were a few things I disagree with them both on but the main thing I noted was that you can measure pinion preload with the carrier in place, oil in the diff, etc and just removing the rotors (or drums.)

I did not replace the crush sleeve nor would I do that unless you had good reason to - either it was damaged or during new gear setup.
