rear dif problems

7.5's dont take much throttle to pop if done regularly..

did you look at is and see if the r&p are tore up or not? pop the cover and look at it first..or take it and have it looked at. otherwise you may be wasting your time.

if you are located near mi a good explorer axle is @ 100 bux if you pull it. have the mount put on for under a 100 and you will have a better setup..

but the busted spider thing will still be possible. i tore em up too much and went bigger yet so look and research a bit.

summit has ford racing trac loc full carriers ready to go for 7.5 and 8.8 for around $220.

Which is only useful if you are capable of installing it yourself. Not easy.

$220 really sucks when you blow your R&P in 10 miles because the backlash setting is a bit off.

REBUILDING a Trak-Lok within the same carrier doesn't require setup.

so if i were to get that above.. how hard would that be to install?

Impossible if you have an 8.8.

If you really do have a 7.5, it's very nearly one of those "if you have to ask" things. Do you have a press? How good are you with a puller? Do you have an assortment of shims? Do you know how to use a dial indicator? What about gear marking compound?

A new carrier won't change the pinion depth, but it sure as heck can change the backlash.

If you put a 7.5 behind a 4.0L, that might be why it didn't last....
