Having a hard time and getting frustrated here. The guys at the ford garage told me to use 80-90 gear oil, and if i had a limited slip to use the friction modifier. Problem is, i have no idea what a limited slip rear looks like as opposed to a normal one. I have it open, but i dont know what the hell im looking at.

My code is S3S6A
3 27 882M21

The tech article info on ford rear end codes looks nothing like this code.

Can someone please tell me what to use for fluid before i lose my cool? Thanks.

Do you see a pin running through 4 little gears (spider gears) or an S-clip? If it's just a pin running through the spider gears it's an open rear axle. If you see an S-shape it's limited slip.
Here's another way to tell:
Look on your door jamb and there will be the word "Axle". Write down that code and look it up in the Tech library. This code will tell you what rear end you have, what gears, and whether it's limited slip or not.

That's exactly what the code is supposed to look like.

You have a 3.27 ratio open diff 8.8".

Ahhhh missed that part of the write up. I have a code 91....8.8 open. So does this mean i do NOT use the friction modifier?
