you need to cut off the spring perches and weld them on top and cut off the perches from the ranger axle and weld them on at a 45* angle or at a 90
What are you talking about? You need to set you pinion angle before welding on the spring perches. Best way to do this I find is to set the axle housing on 2 jack stands, use an angle finder and set the perches at 0 degrees and then rotate the pinion till its pointing upwards at 6-7 degrees. Recheck to make sure the perches are at 0 and the pinion is at 6-7 degrees.

Whats that do? Sorry about the hijack but This is new to me.Do yourself a favor and grab the leaf springs from the explorer you are going to get the axle from. As long as it is a 4 door explorer.
Thank you for helping to support our economy....
Totally unnecessary tho, I have 220,000 miles on my original 7.5 in my 89 B2. If it ain't broke....Run it!
Lets see: $160 for the 1996 Explorer 8.8, $140 for ring&pinion, $260 for Aussie locker, $200 for new bearings throughout, $100 for perches, shock mounts, U-bolts & plates. So about $1.369 when all said and done.
