rear axle painting

hey guys i didnt know where to put this so yeah. but anyway i was wondering i just got an 8.8 axle and i was wondering it has some rust i want to paint it just straight black i was wondering what kind of paint i should use and if you guys have any ideas for gettin the rust off pretty quickly?

Grinder with a wire wheel, then use some tremclad rust paint in your choice of color. Use light coats, 10 minutes between coats.

gotta agree with nathan. More light coats and let them dry inbetween and you shouldn't have problems with paint chipping off.

u could use a grinder like they said and then put some powder coating stuff on it.

Whatever you pain the diff cover with, make sure it's thin. Because that cover is pretty big in dissipating heat...so I mean don't go with something thick that insulates like undercoating.
